tanstack.com incredibely slow due to ads

Describe the bug

tanstack.com is being incredibly slow [for me] due to ads and a plethora of trackers (I think I counted up to 91 trackers or ads). This has been the case for a long time, but I feel like it's getting worse, to the point that the tab with it open often just hangs. I often see it using up to 170% CPU and up to 1 GB RAM in the Google Chrome Task Manager. I have a high-end laptop with 65 GB of RAM and a 16-core CPU (Intel Core Ultra 7).

This is the 2d time ever I have had to reject all cookies and enable an ad blocker on an open-source project site to make it usable due to the ads. (There also seems to be a bit of irony in this, it being a docs site for a data fetching library.)

Note: I have no issues with ads themselves and normally disable my ad blockers for open-source (& other) projects specifically.

This seems very high for a static docs site. Depending on the tool, I am getting upwards of 40 active trackers. (*again, no issue with the ads, but this is super browser resource-intensive)

This is a great writeup. I don't have any immediate answers but I can dump what I have so far and offer some more context while we figure this out.

As a literal experiment in open source sustainability that is currently succeeding on a large scale, I really want to be able to make this work in a way that feels acceptable to developers, so I massively appreciate you taking the time to write this up in a polite and friendly issue and not an inflammatory tweet 😁

Almost all of the scripts you mentioned are unfortunately injected from the ads indirectly. We do have 2 or 3 of our own direct scripts which we will continue to use for:

• GA
• Scarf.sh/Clearbit (Company/Business tracking)
• Hubspot

I have already reached out to my in-house ad rep and our ad partner (@Publift) about this and hope to hear back by the end of today with at least the confirmation

I'm looking into PartyTown to help performance, but also I have been told that similar streamlining can happen from within google tag manager. If anyone has any experience with Party Town, I'd love to hear about it.

@tannerlinsley, thanks for looking into this. I'm reporting this purely because of UX/usability concerns. My very high-end machine was struggling, so I could only imagine that some lower-spec machine visitors could face actual issues using the site/learning about the library.

Absolutely. Do you measure different numbers based on how fresh or old the tab is?
