I noticed that one of the lessons requested in US (by US geographical survey) specified for GitLab as "they may be required to use GitLab. " I am not sure whether this is a trend. Just let you know.

I think it is way too much work and too short notice to add GitLab for the workshop starting this week. I recommend to work on this after the workshop.

I originally did some work in this regard, which has ended up here: https://github.com/mmesiti/git-intermediate.
I might make a PR - probably to be accepted for Spring 2026. I am not sure all the material is covered, though. Would porting a subset of the material to gitlab still valid, with the idea of working in small chunks?
