Mastodon comments are a thing now, and it is a great lightweight comment mechanism for bloggers. I believe we should have something of that sort implemented in blowfish.
I believe it is easy enough to make it a lot more abstract so that more people can easily use it with the switch of a parameter in the config file. I would like to work on that.
However, an issue I have is regarding the CSS. What I have right now is good enough, but it doesn’t integrate well with the rest of the website. Work should be done to either change the CSS using the tailwindcss theme of blowfish somehow, or provide some tooling so that it is easier for any type of other comment system to integrate with the website (i.e. one would just need to connect the API of his or her fediverse comment system according to the proper HTML elements, and the styling would be the same). The issue here is that I’ve never used tailwindcss and I truly suck at CSS.

I was able to get a working blog with mastodon comments in just a few hours using this web component. You can take a look at my copy here https://git.sr.ht/~louisvgn/lvgn.xyz/commit/6164b33a5822236923a24c24e8b0d9f77928f9f5.
