How to install a bun.lockb file with bun v1.2+?

Just upgraded to bun v1.2.1 and quickly realized Cloudflare Workers builds don't yet support the text based lock file so I went to revert back to binary but don't see a way to do that. Besides reverting in git, is there a way to, say --save-binary-lockfile?

Currently this has to be done by reverting in git or other vcs. Right now bun doesn't have a way to translate bun.lock to bun.lockb

To create new bun.lockbs (without migrating) you can set saveTextLockfile = false in bunfig.toml. Once the bun.lockb is created bun will continue to use it for installing/updating.

If bun.lock exists and you want to create a new bun.lockb you will have to delete it. Bun will choose it over bun.lockb and saveTextLockfile = false

Also for cf pages, if you have empty bun.lockb and set BUN_VERSION env var to 1.2.1, it'll work with text lockfile

oh that's interesting. i assume bun prefers the lock when the actual install happens but cloudflare still requires a bun.lockb?

does that affect their caching at all?

I don't think bun should get cached (if it does its usually slower as bun is so fast to just get data from npm)

If talking about the other cache i remember hearing about I'm not sure, maybe if it hashes lockfile some chaos could occur?
