non latin scripts inconsistently appearing under latin alphabet characters in artist grouping #1877

- I believe this issue is a bug, and not a general technical issue, question or feature requests that can be discussed on the forum.
Describe the bug
categorisation for some reason doesn't place some artists in their correct location. for example, サイダーガール (CIDERGIRL) gets put under C. this doesn't even make sense from a transliteration perspective, as it every sane romanisation of サ is sa (sa i daa gaa ru), so it seems to be getting the english name from... somewhere? to know that サイダー should be CIDER. i have no idea where from though, as there's no hint to that in the file path or the metadata.
even more bizarrely, かめりあ feat. ななひら (Camellia feat. Nanahira) appears under c. this is despite there being another かめりあ Camellia that appears under か where it should, in addition to the feat. nanahira one under C... also again, every sane romanisation of か is ka. (also notice サツキ correctly appears under サ in this screenshot...)
To Reproduce
as above. i've copy pasted the japanese text from the tags instead of retyping them, in case there's some insanely cursed unicode bs going on.
Expected behavior
all the かめりあ should be under か, and サイダーガール to be under サ.
this seems to work correctly for every other japanese artist in my collection...
